The Aquarium will be closed all day on Wednesday 27 April, and reopen from Thursday 28 April.
Tabua made of large whales tooth with rich honey colour, with what looks like residue of dye that has run. Point is pierced laterally and the butt is pierced vertically with very small metal drilled holes. No engraving.
Tabua are modified teeth that were of important ceremonial valuable within traditional Fijian economic interactions with the people of Tonga, where this tooth originated.
