He wears a Qing dynasty hairstyle with his plaits curled up on his head. Holding a shoe in his right hand and tools in the other. There are two baskets beside him that contain threads and fabrics. Face and ears slightly damaged. Paper at bottom of box reads:' FROM THE OFFICE OF THE Presbyterian Chirch of England 86 TAVISTOCK PLACE, W.C.1, Model of CHINESE Tailor- (Formosa) given by Dr. J. Preston Maxwell- belonged to his father, and brought to this country 90 years ago. Presented in 1961.' Length: 235mm; width:200mm; height:115mm.
