sample (textileworking: dyeing & printing); textile

Sample of tabby-woven cotton decorated with red diamond outlines on a light green ground. The diamonds have been tied off prior to dyeing the textile green and then coloured in with red ('bandhana' technique). The half of the textile closest to the selvedge also contains fine brown grid lines which connect the diamonds in alternated rows. One shorter side appears to be the start of the textile, the remaining 2 appear to have been cut.
