Embroidered textile item in the shape of a peony. The object consists of 13 petal-shaped pieces arranged symmetrically about a vertical axis. Each part consists of a piece of cream or green satin embroidered with pale multicoloured floral and symbolic motifs. Each is edged with a woven band, a braid and thin band of grey satin. The shape is lined overall with green damask. The top central shape is not attached to the back of the next shape, so the whole piece may have been intended to form a pocket.
