321.321-6 Necked bowl lutes

Tār, long-necked lute, with five plucked strings. Body and neck entirely covered with fine inlaid work in coloured woods and bone. Face covered with parchment (all broken). Gut frets (mostly missing). Inlaid pegs. Strings and bridge missing. This instrument was acquired for the South Kensington Museum at the Paris Exhibition of 1867.
