Simple bamboo flute carved from two internodes . The flute is closed at one end and closed at the other and has a central hole immediately above the central node. One half of the flute has been painted in pale brown colour.
This flute is part of a large collection of ethnographical material from the Bedamuni area of Papua New Guinea collected by A.G.van Beek and K. van Beek-Auer of Leiden University for the Horniman Museum. The flute is played only by young men, especially when they are returning from the gardens in the afternoon. It can be played either at the middle or the end.
