Top piece of Sarong for Kecak Dance. Black and white check. 100 men perform as members of Hanuman's (Ramayana story) army. Their vocal tones, that are like chattering monkeys accompany the dancer's characters from the story. Note: This sarong is worn in conjuction with a black shiny undergarment, number HC.2004.218. The checked over piece is folded so it falls to just above the knees and is knotted in front. The black and white represents light/dark + good and bad etc., stipulating theme of balance. The torso of the men remains uncovered.
