The Aquarium will be closed all day on Wednesday 27 April, and reopen from Thursday 28 April.

When the animal moves the bell sounds as the wooden clapper rattles inside the wooden cone. The camels have bells tied around their necks so their herders can keep track of their whereabouts. Camels are often set free during the day, to find their food in the desert. The herders find them each morning and evening for milking.
These objects are only a part of our collections, of which there are more than 350,000 objects. This information comes from our collections database. Some of this is incomplete and there may be errors. This part of the website is also still under construction, so there may be some fields repeated or incorrectly formatted information.
