The note contains a translation of a Tamil text addressded to Mr. Horniman. It is unclear what the source text is. The translation refers to earings called katolai (anglicised from Tamil) made out of plam leaf worn by Chakkili women. The author makes a note explaining the mechanism of the ear ornaments and a note explaining that the Chakkili caste are leather makers.
