Tayàw (or thro, tro or dra), three stringed spike fiddle. A bowed stringed instrument of black-finished wood. The body long with large square shoulders. The neck massive and short, with a peg-box for three pegs and a large elaborately carved head representing a bird (looking sideways) between two leaf designs. Three simple teak pegs. Three red cord strings attached to a finial by a thicker red cord. A narrow leather strap attached through head decorations. Two small slits serving as f-holes. A hole on each side in ribs.
