Guittar (English guitar) or cittern. Maple neck, the ribs and one-piece back of burr walnut. The tortoiseshell-veneered fretboard edged with mother of pearl inlay, and with twelve metal frets. Ten ebony pegs surmounted by bone pins, bone nut..Purfling on soundboard and back, carved rose in soundhole inlaid with mother of pearl, ten-pointed star. Bone pins and end-pin (with mother of pearl inlay). Sicke-shaped head faced with mother of pearl inlay in the form of a star on a black ground. Ten wire strings: two bass strings as single courses and the other eight as double courses. Replacement bridge. Inscribed in ink at the top of the back: 'Rauche/London 1763.
