The Aquarium will be closed all day on Wednesday 27 April, and reopen from Thursday 28 April.
Amuletic dog figure, zaru-kaburi-inu. The label underneath the dog and between the 4 feet reads ‘Tsuruoka hachimangu’ which is a place in Kamakura Prefecture. It is also made in hariko papier-mâché. It’s a good luck charm for a pregnant woman. The label on the dog’s chest reads ‘keep away bad things’.
These objects are only a part of our collections, of which there are more than 350,000 objects. This information comes from our collections database.
