The Aquarium will be closed all day on Wednesday 27 April, and reopen from Thursday 28 April.
Chinese embroidered silk banner depicting scenes in a man's life, probably a celebratory banner for a 60th birthday. A man is depicted engaged in intellectual pursuits: playing chess, contemplating a scroll painting, writing calligraphic script and playing the qin. Above and between the scenes are peach trees, the fruit symbolising the food of the gods and long life.
These objects are only a part of our collections, of which there are more than 350,000 objects. This information comes from our collections database.
