The Aquarium will be closed all day on Wednesday 27 April, and reopen from Thursday 28 April.
Two panels of warp-faced, striped material are sewn selvedge to selvedge with a colourful randa. The stripes are of natural brown cotton (cuyuscate), white and black with narrower stripes of red, green and jaspe (tie-dyed yarn). The use of natural brown cotton indicates an older textile.
These objects are only a part of our collections, of which there are more than 350,000 objects. This information comes from our collections database.
