Flute. Conical body, nine keys (one key missing) Chased silver. Keys are pillar mounted with fish skin pads. Two ring (brille) keys. Three joints and detachable end cap. String lapped tenons and cork end cap fitting. The whole instrument is covered with engravings of floral designs and images of musical instruments, a lioness and an angel playing a trumpet. Inscription engraved on head joint: CARD./29/St. James's St./LONDON

Orchestral flute player and Royal Academy of Music teacher George Card was an early promoter of the Boehm system flute in Britain. This instrument incorporates some features of Boehm's instruments, such as the two ring keys.
