textile; samples (textileworking: dyeing & printing)

Long rectangular indigo dyed cotton sample. The textile is hemmed at both shorter sides. The decoration consists of a centre panel bordered on both hemmed sides. The border contains small irregular white ovoid ring shapes on a blue ground. The decoration divides the panel into 5 bands, each containing 3 square fields. Each square contains a central X-shape consisting of 4 parallel diagonals creating a lattice diamond in the centre. The surrounding triangular areas are again decorated with irregular ovoid rings. The fine bands, stripes and diagonals consist of a line with short diagonals on one side created by the raffia threads used.
