barkcloth

Rectangular piece of cream barkcloth with painted designs in brown and black. The textile is divided by its decoration into 6 wide, and 5 narrow patterned bands. The narrow bands contain a black chevron pattern. The wide bands are framed by brown lines, and subdivided into triangles. These triangles are alternately patterned with brown bands divided into small squares, and bands of black diagonals resembling a fishbone pattern. The piece is backed onto paper due to its fragility.
