Clarinet in B flat, striated boxwood, ivory mounts to bell, German silver mount at middle joint (probably not original). An altered instrument, having some fifteen keys of various designs. Original keys of brass, flat, square, mounted in turned blocks and four saddles. Two later keys, round and stuffed, of German silver. German silver saddle of G sharp key a substitution. G sharp/D sharp on rod axle and pillar mounts (of German silver) a later addition. Spectacle (ring) key for B/F sharp a later addition. Finger hole four and five and thumb hole bushed. Thumb rest a later addiion. Barrel and mouthpiece not original. Sounding length (length without mouthpiece) is 60.4 cm. Bell ring cracked. Shank of long trill key bent. Stamped: Garrett No.1 Perkins Rents Westminster, London (Triple plume mark).
